Why Linux Mint is a pleasure

It's been a few weeks since I opened my restricted bios and installed Linux on my Laptop.

And I have to say, Mint rocks.

I love the possibility to modify my desktop in a way almost unthinkable when running Windows.

What happened so far....

Since I compiled some huge packages while also running a virtual machine with Linux Mint on my Laptop (So Mint in Mint or Mint2) my 6 CPU core (or all 12 v-cores) sppeded up to 4.28Ghz making the laptop almost frying the legs it rested on.

So I decided I need an easy and fast way to reduce the max frequency of the CPU is required to keep the laptop chill and a pleasure to work with.

The usual tools only have 3 levels (TLD: snail, Ferrari, fighter jet), which I deemed to less granular for the job....

So I did it again and wrote a piece of software. A simple Linux Mint Cinnamon CPU Throttling Applet.

By default it gives 9 different levels, from not throttled to throttled to the CPU specifed minimum frequency.
